Yearly Moratorium for e-Filing

I hope you have managed to stay safe and well! We focus on resolving tax issues in Prince William County and throughout the lower Northern Virginia area.

We’re officially on the clock for the 2021 busy season! The yearly electronic filing moratorium for both the filing of federal tax returns, as well as any state returns for 2019 and prior years is currently in effect.

The IRS traditionally, opens e-filing access for the new tax year in late January/ early February. What this means for you, is that you must file any tax returns for prior years between now and the opening via the traditional mail method. If filing multiple prior year returns, there is no need to mail each return separately. As is the case when mailing any correspondence to any tax regulatory authorities, it is recommended that you use certified mail, providing proof of delivery.

If you need any assistance filing prior year returns, we would be happy to help. Please feel free to contact us. https://brtaxaccountant.com/
